Transforming the way healthcare officials collaborate to track people, pets, and associated property and equipment during evacuations, large events, mass casualty incidents and public health emergencies.
EMSystems was founded in 1998 by Emergency Department physicians intent upon developing a solution to improve communication processes among hospitals and emergency medical service agencies regarding bed status and availability. The problem of prolonged patient wait times in emergency departments (ED) and subsequent delays in patient treatment had become growing concerns for healthcare professionals. The introduction of the first web-based hospital diversion communications system was implemented in the Milwaukee metropolitan area, resulting in an automated and streamlined communications solution throughout the emergency care system.
EMSystems is now recognized as the leading provider of web-based healthcare information management solutions used by greater than 35% of the nation’s population in medical emergency event preparation, detection, and response.
EMSystems is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
EMSystems has established partnerships, distribution, and implementation agreements with several leading global providers of emergency preparedness, public safety, and consulting healthcare services. EMSystems defines its customer support philosophies by the requirements of those we support and how they affect our customers' daily work flow and processes. When time is of the essence, our help desk team is available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year to assist with any customer support requirement.
Stakeholders across the entire emergency services continuum use our emergency communications solution, which streamlines communications required to prepare for, respond to, and recover from individual and large-scale incidents. This solution facilitates monitoring of healthcare assets, emergency department capacity, and behavioral health and dialysis bed status. Incident-specific resources are easily tracked, such as decontamination capability, ventilators, and specialty services. The solution is implemented in 74 regions in the U.S., covering more than 37% of the population. 1,400 hospitals and 15,000 users utilize the solution on a daily basis.
Our multi-functional tracking solution supports the tracking of people, property, and equipment. It is configured for each client to support local policies and to reflect unique state or local needs for mass casualty, public health, special events, and hospital evacuee tracking. The solution was used extensively during such events as the Fort Hood incident, Hurricanes Ike and Gustav, the Presidential Inauguration, Mardi Gras, and the Boston Marathon. The solution covers over 21% of the U.S. by population through three statewide and 18 regional implementations.
Public health professionals use our secure communication solution for preparing for, responding to, and recovering from multiple public health events. This alerting and collaboration solution is designed to meet the CDC Public Health Information Network (PHIN) guidelines for Health Alert Networks. The solution enables statewide coordination and response to events like the recent H1N1 outbreak. It provides a comprehensive platform for disaster and continuity of operations planning in 22 states.
Our integrated Patient Care Record solution collects and disseminates critical pre-hospital EMS patient information, enabling agencies to streamline and improve the quality and cost effectiveness of emergency medical care. It is used primarily by paramedics and other emergency personnel to record patient information, such as identification, vital signs, and health background. This information is communicated to emergency departments for immediate use upon patient intake. These solutions are used by over 1,400 users in 23 states.
Our volunteer management solutions are secure, web-based solutions that meet or exceed the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) benchmarks for an Emergency System for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals (ESAR-VHP). These solutions support the qualification and management of volunteer care providers across jurisdictional lines. EMSystems' ESAR-VHP solutions cover 27% of the U.S. population across 15 statewide implementations.
Our Training and Exercises solution supports regional and statewide disaster preparedness exercises. Our specially trained clinical and technical experts assess, design, develop, plan, coordinate, and execute these exercises, onsite and remotely. Participants can be brought together in one physical location, as in a traditional "tabletop" exercise, or hold a "virtual event" in which participants attend from anywhere, using distance conferencing. These experts also assist with after action evaluations.
EMSystems' Program and Outreach Services consultants are located at the client's primary location of operations to assist the client in managing programmatic and marketing aspects of EMSystem's emergenct preparedness and response solutions. These full-time employees become an integral part of the client's disaster planning team. They assess, create, implement, and evaluate the client's program and outreach needs, and the education, training, and management skills that ensure the success of public health programs.
